Sophie is a 5 years old Domestic Short Hair Cat. Hi my name is Sophie! I am 5 years young and I arrived here in August of xxxx with my housemate Hokie. We were both pretty scared when we were brought here. Imagine being brought to a loud new place with lots of animal smells .. in a pillowcase. That was us! The shelter has been an extremely scary place for me but I am improving daily. My previous owner mentioned that I am scared around new people so it will take a patient person with a huge heart to understand how to work with me. If you sit with me for a little while I start to purr. After the purring comes the headbutting and after the headbutting .. I even start to play! The staff has found that I really like to play with feather wands and strings. At first glance I will look like a scaredy cat. I like to tuck myself in to small areas and lay underneath blankets. Once someone pays attention to me I start to show myself and my sweet playful personality. My one true hope is that someone who understands what its like to be afraid will come along and take me to a home where I can live forever .. never to be scared again. I sure hope you visit with me soon!
